Cherries: Feeney calling for finishing edge

LIAM Feeney believes sharpening their clinical edge will result in a polished finish to Cherries' promotion push.[LNB] Feeney has played a starring role in establishing the Dorset outfit as one of the most potent forces in League One this season.[LNB] The 23-year-old has netted five times and provided numerous assists as Cherries have sustained their bid for honours.[LNB] Currently the second highest scorers in the division, Cherries' tally of 53 goals is already 16 more than at the same stage last season.[LNB] However, despite the impressive statistics, Cherries have seen countless chances go begging in recent games and have struggled to kill off opponents.[LNB] They were made to pay when Leyton Orient grabbed a late leveller at Dean Court 10 days ago and were also hanging on at Walsall on Saturday.[LNB] Feeney told the Daily Echo: We would be more worried if we weren't creating chances but that's not the case. There is a lot of creativity in the team and people are getting in positions to take them. Winning every game 1-0 would be fine by me.[LNB] It would be nice to see out games a bit more comfortably than we have recently. I'm sure it will come because we are creating the chances but just not taking them at the moment.[LNB] We have got one of the best goal differences in the division and there is a reason for that. We have scored goals from all over the pitch and have defended superbly. I would much rather have a spell of scraping 1-0 wins than going through a period of defeats.[LNB] It is not as bad as it might seem but, if we want to get promoted, we are probably going to have to put away a few more chances and put games to bed a bit earlier.[LNB] Feeney, who has netted four times in Cherries' past nine games, added: There are a lot of good teams in this division and they put you under pressure for long periods. We can't always dictate the play and will sometimes have to grind out ugly wins.[LNB] It's a sign of a good team if we are not putting in great performances but still getting the points.[LNB] Striker Michael Symes, who grabbed his second goal in as many games to earn Cherries victory at Walsall, echoed Feeney's thoughts when he said: We should have been out of sight with the number of chances we created in the second half against Walsall. If we want to get promoted, we are going to have to start taking more of these chances.[LNB] Cherries will be looking to extend their lead in second place when they visit whipping boys Bristol Rovers tonight (7.45pm).[LNB] Cherries: (from) Jalal, Smith, Pearce, Cooper, Cummings, Feeney, Robinson, Hollands, Pugh, Symes, Ings, Fletcher, Wiggins, Williamson, Purches, Arter, Baudry, Stewart.[LNB] Rovers: (from) Daniels, Anthony, Bolger, Coles, Sawyer, Davies, Kalala, Williams, Hughes, Howe, Hoskins, Kuffour, Richards, Tunnicliffe, Swallow, Brown, Regan, Reece, Green.[LNB]
