Cherries: Compensation will give us security says Mitchell

EDDIE Mitchell has reaffirmed his stance on running AFC Bournemouth as a business as well as a football club.[LNB] Mitchell has seen the Dean Court coffers swelled this season following the sales of Brett Pitman and Josh McQuoid and the exits of boss Eddie Howe and assistant Jason Tindall.[LNB] And although the majority of the proceeds from their respective departures will be paid in instalments, Mitchell says the funds will give the club added security.[LNB] Pitman was sold to Bristol City for a reputed fee of £510,000 in August, while McQuoid's £550,000 move to Millwall went through earlier this month.[LNB] Neither of the transfer fees has ever been made public by either club, nor has the level of compensation for Howe and Tindall, which the Daily Echo understands to have been around £300,000.[LNB] Asked whether the club was now awash with money, Mitchell replied: We haven't had all the Pitman money, we've have a small amount of Josh's money and none of Eddie's money so it's not as if we've had a big cash windfall.[LNB] It will come in and is as good as money in the bank and gives the club some security. We've decided we're going to put some asphalt on the car park in February and have got to address things as they are.[LNB] It's a business we are running, not just a football club because it has to meet at each end and has to come out on a positive. One day, most clubs will have to run that way. Hopefully, we will buck the trend and show profits each year.[LNB]
