Cherries: Bradders backs Brett to shine on Championship stage

LEE Bradbury the experienced Cherries star with more than 100 career goals to his name is backing Brett Pitman to be among the Championship's leading strikers this season.[LNB] Veteran Bradbury is no stranger to big transfers or plying his trade at a higher level after playing in the second tier with Manchester City following a £3million switch from Portsmouth in 1997.[LNB] And the 35-year-old thinks top talent Pitman, who yesterday signed a three-year contract at Bristol City, in a deal believed to be worth up to £800,000, has the ability to succeed at a higher level.[LNB] Since emerging from the Dean Court youth ranks, Pitman has built a reputation as a natural goalscorer, his prolific form firing Cherries out of League Two last term.[LNB] Bradbury, who has enjoyed spells with the likes of Crystal Palace and Oxford United in a distinguished career, reckons the 22-year-old will continue to find the net.[LNB] He told the Echo: He's one of those who can score a goal out of nothing and he's a good finisher.[LNB] He will get the chances and I've got confidence he will score goals in the Championship, given a good run.[LNB] Jon Stead has gone there as well and I think they will be a good partnership up top together.[LNB] Brett is one of the best young finishers I've seen around. The potential is definitely there so he's just got to go and fulfil it now at a higher standard, and he can maybe move on from there.[LNB] He's got great self-belief and he's hungry to score goals and I'm sure that we'll see him in the top three or four goalscorers in that league this season.[LNB] When asked about the different challenges posed by moving up the divisions, Bradbury explained: You've got to be a bit more clinical.[LNB] You won't get four or five chances a game, a lot of the time you only get one or maybe two chances a game, or half-chances, and it's converting them into goals that is the key.[LNB] Brett can do that. He scores goals out of nothing and just makes himself half-a-yard and gets shots off.[LNB] He scores all sorts of goals goals from distance, tap-ins, solo run goals and I just think he'll be a good asset for them and he should do well.[LNB]
