Cherries boss Howe tells fans: Don't compare Josh with Pitman
EDDIE Howe wants more of the same from Josh McQuoid but is urging Cherries supporters to avoid comparisons between him and Brett Pitman.[LNB] McQuoid netted Cherries' opener during their 3-0 win at Tranmere after stepping in as an emergency striker following Pitman's exit to Bristol City.[LNB] The 20-year-old, who has been utilised predominantly as a winger, is in contention to keep his place when Cherries host Notts County tomorrow (3pm).[LNB] And with Cherries bidding to complete a hat-trick of League One victories, all eyes could be on McQuoid to repeat his goalscoring heroics against the Magpies.[LNB] Howe told the Daily Echo: He doesn't need to change the way he has been playing or anything about his game. He was excellent all through pre-season, it wasn't just at Tranmere.[LNB] His attitude has been first-class and he has been working really hard.[LNB] He is keen to improve and learn and has done very well. He certainly took his chance at Tranmere.[LNB] He's versatile and can play a number of positions, anywhere across midfield and up front.[LNB] He's got more to his game than just trying to score goals. Everyone knows about his pace and ability and he has really grasped the opportunity. We are delighted with his progress.[LNB] But we shouldn't expect too much, too soon. Although he has been around the first team for a couple of seasons, people need to understand that he is playing in a position that he hasn't played for a long time.[LNB] Howe is also keen for supporters to keep expectations in check after Cherries followed up their 5-1 home drubbing of Peterborough with a convincing 3-0 win at Prenton Park.[LNB] He added: We have entered a very difficult division and that hasn't changed despite the fact we have won two games on the trot.[LNB] After the first two games, everybody was pretty negative about our chances. Then, we won two, and it was the opposite reaction.[LNB] As I've said before, we just need to keep on the same path. We need to keep our heads down and keep working hard.[LNB] We need to keep on the level and we need the crowd to do the same.[LNB] Notts County are a big club and invested heavily in their squad last year.[LNB] Apart from their goalkeeper, they haven't lost any players from last season when they won the league comfortably so they are as strong now as they were then.
