Cherries: Barrett not concerned with departures

NEW terrace favourite Adam Barrett is challenging Cherries' back-up boys to seize their chance and make the most of the recent player exodus.[LNB] Barrett led from the front as Lee Bradbury's troops made light of the imminent departure of Danny Ings to open their points account for the season on Saturday.[LNB] The 31-year-old defender's first-half goal paved the way for a deserved 2-0 win over much-fancied Sheffield Wednesday at Seward Stadium.[LNB] Victory came just hours after the Daily Echo had exclusively revealed Ings was likely to be the next player out of the exit door, with the striker bound for Championship outfit Burnley.[LNB] Although boss Bradbury and chairman Eddie Mitchell both declined to comment on the speculation, Ings looks certain to today complete his move to Turf Moor.[LNB] His departure would take to four the number of players sold by the club since Bradbury persuaded Barrett to leave Crystal Palace for Cherries in the summer.[LNB] Barrett told the Daily Echo: It is part and parcel of football. I have come here to do a job and can't worry about who is going.[LNB] It is something we will just have to overcome. When one door closes, another one opens for someone else. We have got players who have proved they can step up to the plate. These boys have got an opportunity to grab the shirts and make them their own. It is going to be down to them to get in the team and cement a place.[LNB] Sometimes, people leaving can make you stronger and can make the group tighter. Doors will open for other players to stake their claim. They are a hungry, young bunch and they want to learn.[LNB] Barrett headed home Marc Pugh's 37th-minute corner to give Cherries the lead before Harry Arter killed off the Owls with a clinical strike eight minutes from time.[LNB] It was a tremendous result, added Barrett. The lads worked their socks off.[LNB]
