We have new leaders at the top of the Championship as Queens Park Rangers took advantage of slips elsewhere as they managed to bag the points against Blackpool, at Bloomfield Road. Goals from Phillips (61st min) and Austin (73rd min) sealed victory to send the Londoners top. Blackpool 9th, Queens Park Rangers 1st.
The slips elsewhere came at The King Power Stadium where Leicester City and Burnley cancelled each other out with a 1-1 draw. A 14th minute Nugent penalty was cancelled out with an Ings leveller 2 minutes after half time. Leicester City 3rd, Burnley 2nd.
Meanwhile, Derby County continue to edge closer to the automatic promotion places as the Rams recorded another victory on the road, this latest success coming against Charlton Athletic at The Valley. Goals from Ward (32nd min) and Bryson (87th min) edged County to within 3 points of the top 2. Charlton Athletic 21st, Derby County 4th.
Reading managed to get back to winning ways with success over Huddersfield Town at the John Smiths Stadium. Sharp bagged the only goal of the game to seal victory in the 32nd minute. Huddersfield Town 12th, Reading 5th.
Leeds United racked up a comprehensince victory over Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat as United rattled 3 past their hosts. Goals from Smith (17th min), McCormack (76th min) and Austin (87th min) proved to be more than enough to seal victory. Doncaster Rovers 20th, Leeds United 6th.
Brighton & Hove Albion continue to hover just outside of the play-off places as they managed to seal victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium. Upson bagged the winner with just 4 minutes left on the clock for the Seagulls. Middlesbrough 19th, Brighton & Hove Albion 8th.
Blackburn Rovers just managed to edge Millwall out at Ewood Park as the two unevenly shared 5 goals. Rhodes put Rovers ahead mid way through the opening period, with Waghorn levelling just before the break. Marshall restored the home sides advantage just after the break, with Dunn extending that lead with 5 minutes left. An interesting finish was on the cards when Morison pulled one back for the Lions, but failed to inspire his colleagues to find an elusive equaliser. Blackburn Rovers 11th, Millwall 18th.
Since this match was played out, Watford have parted company with their manager as Sheffield Wednesday managed to pick up 3 vital points in their fight against relegation. The only goal of the game came in the 24th minute from WIckham. Watford 13th, Sheffield Wednesday 22nd.
The local derby at the DW Stadium saw local bragging rights go to Wigan Athletic as they managed to see Bolton Wanderers off with a 3-2 win. First half goals from Watson (pen, 11th min) and Powell (24th min) gave the Latics a first half cushion. Danns halved the deficit just after the re start with Moritz levelling from the penalty spot in the 64th minute. That joy was soon snuffed out when McManaman bagged the winner just 4 minutes later. Wigan Athletic 14th, Bolton Wanderers 16th.
Birmingham City managed to edge that bit further clear of the drop zone with 2-0 away win over AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. Goals from Shinnie (3rd min) and Zigic (34th min) proved to be enough on the south coast. AFC Bournemouth 17th, Birmingham City 15th.
A relegation tussle was played out at Oakwell as Barnsley and Yeovil Town both dropped points in their battle at the foot of the table. A 10th minute strike from Grant put the Glovers ahead only to see a Tudgay penalty level matters just after the half hour. The draw did neither too many favours. Barnsley 24th, Yeovil Town 23rd.
The only other game played out at the weekend saw Nottingham Forest (7th) draw 0-0 with Ipswich Town (10th) at The City Ground.
