Carling Cup First Round Draw

11 June 2013 22:26
On Monday 17th June, the draw for the first round of the Carling Cup will be released by the Football League.

Next Monday (June 17) at 0930, AFC Bournemouth will learn who they have been paired to play in the first round of the 2013/14 Carling Cup - a round which is seeded and regionalised. AFC Bournemouth will be seeded given where they finished in League One last season.

This will mean that the Cherries will be paired against a fellow southern based side who finished in the bottom half of League One, or anywhere in League Two, which will also include newly promoted Newport County and possibly Mansfield Town - depending on where the north/south split takes place.

First round ties will be played w/c August 5th.

Only 70 League sides will be incuded in the first round. Reading will be introduced in the Second Round, with 14 Premiership sides, with the sides involved in European competition joining the rest in the Third Round (including Wigan Athletic).
