Here's our round up of the midweek cup action involcing clubs from League One.

Preston North End managed to see off newly promoted Huddersfield Town at Deepdale with a 2-0 win. Goals from King (29th min) and Wroe (40th min) settled the tie in the first half on Monday.

Oldham Athletic pushed Sheffield Wednesday all the way until the Owls managed to edge it 4-2 at Boundary Park. The Latics took the game to their Championship visitors with goals from Slew (7th min) and Mvoto (27th min), only to see Johnson (53rd min), O'Grady (62nd and 70th mins) and Antonio (87th min) ease the passage for Wednesday on Monday.

On Tuesday evening, there were a few more shocks involving League One outfits. Leyton Orient held Charlton Athletic at The Valley. Wagstaff gave the home side the lead in the 28th minute, with Baudry levelling on the stroke of half time. The game headed for penalties where the O's won 4-3.

Scunthorpe United and Derby County were involved in the most remarkable game of the round, sharing 10 goals after 120 minutes of play. County raced in to a 3-goal half time lead through Keogh (30th min), Buxton (34th min) and Robinson (40th min). Barcham pulled one back for Scunny in the 52nd minute, with Buxton scoring again a minute later. Grella got his name on the score sheet in the 63rd minute, as did Grant 10 minutes later.The game seemed to be safe when Tyson made it 5-3 in the 83rd minute. Remarkably Jennings (95th min) and a Grant penalty in the 97th minute took the game to extra time. With no goals in the extra 30 minutes, penalties beckoned, with Scunny winning through 7-6!

Crawley Town also managed to see off Championship opposition in the form of Millwall at The Den. Akpan gave the League One new-boys the lead in the 16th minute, with Ward levelling 7 minutes later. Adams restored Town's advantage in the 56th minute, only to see Batt level with 5 minutes to go. This match also went to penalties, with Crawley winning 4-1.

Swindon Town managed to see off Brighton & Hove Albion at The County Ground with a convincing 3-0 win over the Championshiop side. Goals from benson (53rd min) and a brace from Navarro (65th and 75th minutes) was more than enough to see Town through.

Big-spending AFC Bournemouth failed to get past Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium, with the match going to penalties after a dour 0-0 draw. The shoot-out saw the home side go through 5-3.

It was perhaps no surprise that Portsmouth went out at the first round stage. They fell by the way side against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. Goals from Gorman (45th min), Cown-Hall (86th min) and hadwick (87th min) saw the Devon side through. The financially stricken Hampshire side finished the match with all 10-oufield players aged 18 or under.

Tranmere Rovers managed to edge past Chesterfield at the b2Net Stadium with a 2-1 win. 0-0 after 90 minutes meant extra time, which prompted Stockton to give Rovers the lead (93rd min), with Lester levelling 16 minutes later. Ball-Baggie (!) scored the winner in added time at the end of extra time to seal the win.

Coventry City left it late to seal a first round win against Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road. Kilbane scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

Stevenage Borough eased through against AFC Wimbledon at Broadhall Way with a 3-1 win. A Balkestein penalty in the 13th minute got the home side off the mark with Dunne doubling the advantage in the 38th minute. Keirnan pulled one back 4 minutes before the break. The win was sealed when Roberts netted on the stroke of half time.

Finally, Yeovil Town were comfortable winners over Colchester United at Huish Park, where the Glovers ran out 3-0 winners. Goals from Hinds (4th and 44th minutes) and March-Brown (79th minute) was enough to see the home side through.
