Glenn Murray set to make first start for Bournemouth

Glenn Murray is set to fill the void left by Callum Wilson's injury when Bournemouth host Watford.

The deadline day signing from Crystal Palace could be handed his first Cherries start after fellow striker Wilson was ruled out for six months with knee ligament damage.

Wilson joins captain Tommy Elphick, Harry Arter, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel on the sidelines.

Boss Eddie Howe says they will have to adapt to life without their five-goal striker.

"We're going to be a different team now with Callum being out," Howe told reporters at a press conference. "It is up to everybody to step up and give more.

"Last season we were so consistent with our team selection, so this challenge is new for us. But the players who have stepped in have done well so far.

"I don't think you'll see a real change in style, but we are going to have to adapt."

Bournemouth have had wretched luck with injuries this season and Wilson is joined on the sidelines by Tommy Elphick, Harry Arter, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel.

"One of the loneliest things about being injured is the isolation, but the thing they have in common is that the injured players will have each other to lean on," added Howe.

"Callum took the news of his injury like a man. He really impressed me with how he handled the bad news."

Bournemouth were promoted along with Watford last season, having pipped the Hornets to the Championship title on the final day of the campaign.

Watford have since made a host of new additions and have a new manager in Quique Sanchez Flores, so Howe expects a different sort of challenge.

"We enjoyed our tussles with Watford last year," he added.

"They are a good footballing side and are very dangerous in attack.

"Last season is history. Saturday is a new game and a new challenge and we will have to be at our best."

Watford midfielder Valon Behrami is serving the last of a three-match ban for being sent off against Swansea last month while defender Joel Ekstrand is still sidelined with a knee injury.

Summer signings Adlene Guedioura and Victor Ibarbo were on the bench for Sunday's defeat to Crystal Palace and could make first starts for the club.

Boss Quique Sanchez Flores has revealed he had not heard of Bournemouth when he first arrived in the Premier League.

The Spaniard became the Hornets' fifth manager in 12 months when he was appointed in the summer amid the club's ongoing personnel changes that have since forced him to concentrate on building a new team.

Bournemouth's rise to the Premier League has been remarkable and Sanchez Flores was forced to find out more about Saturday's opponents.

"Watford lost 2-0 at this stadium last season and drew at home so we will find a tough team," the manager said ahead of the trip to the Vitality Stadium.

"We need to find a plan to win on Saturday. It will be amazing if we can win.

"I watched their last two matches and we have lots of information (on Bournemouth) from last year.

"I didn't know Bournemouth when I came here but I did a lot of reading and watched a lot of videos. We respect them very much as they won the league last year.

"They lost Wilson but they have another player to come in."
