O'Kane worry for Cherries

In-form Bournemouth look set to be without influential midfielder Eunan O'Kane for the visit of Scunthorpe.

The former Torquay man limped off 28 minutes into the Cherries' 1-0 win at Colchester on Friday and the club will know the extent of the injury once it settles down but it looks certain to rule him out.

Shaun MacDonald replaced the Irishman and will be hopeful of getting the nod from the start at the Goldsands Stadium.

Captain Tommy Elphick looks set to retain his place having come through 90 minutes on his long-awaited return from injury. Elphick had missed their last 10 games with a knee injury suffered back in February.

That win in Essex, labelled as one of their best displays of the season by manager Eddie Howe, moved Bournemouth up to second in npower League One, just two points off the top of the table.

Long-term absentees Miles Addison, Stephen Purches and Stephane Zubar remain sidelined for a Bournemouth side who have won their last four matches.

Scunthorpe skipper Paul Reid is expected to miss out due to a back injury.

Centre-half Reid was forced out of Friday's home win over Leyton Orient just before the interval and replaced by David Mirfin.

Mirfin had been dropped to the substitutes' bench, but formed a solid partnership alongside Niall Canavan and the pair will continue if Reid is ruled out.

Manager Brian Laws recalled Andy Barcham against Orient and must decide whether to retain him on the wing or recall on-loan Wolves teenager Anthony Forde.

Striker Akpo Sodje struck his 13th goal of the season on Friday - his sixth in 12 appearances for Scunthorpe - and will continue up front alongside Karl Hawley or Stoke loanee James Alabi.

The Iron have extended Manchester City goalkeeper Eirik Holmen Johansen's loan spell until the end of the season and he will continue in the absence of Sam Slocombe, currently sidelined with a torn thigh muscle.
