Pitman double delight for Cherries

Brett Pitman and Callum Wilson combined to earn Bournemouth a 3-0 win over Reading as the in-form Cherries claimed their fifth win in six games.

Wilson scored his third goal in as many matches five minutes into the second half when he headed passed Adam Federici from Marc Pugh's cross.

Two goals inside 10 minutes from Jersey-born striker Pitman sealed a comfortable Sky Bet Championship win for the home side.

Reading went close to breaking the deadline in the first half as former QPR striker Jamie Mackie struck the crossbar from inside the box.

But that was the closest the visitors came to securing a surprise win at the Goldsands Stadium.

The Royals have now gone seven games without a win under Adkins with Reading fans calling for the former Southampton boss to be sacked.

They almost went in at the break a goal down when Matt Ritchie looked to score his first goal of the season.

Home favourite Ritchie, who is yet to score this season, opened his body up before curling a delightful left-footed effort passed Federici from outside the box.

Fortunately for the Reading goalkeeper he was able to watch the ball cannon back off the post and away to safety.

Bournemouth came out in the second half much the better side.

They grabbed the ascendancy when Pugh provided a delicious ball for Wilson to head in from inside the six-yard box.

The former Coventry striker, who has now scored nine goals since making the step up from League one, was then on hand to set up the second for strike partner Pitman.

Wilson robbed Michael Hector on the edge of the box before slotting in Pitman who had just the goalkeeper to beat, and he did, finishing neatly into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.

It was about to get worse for the visitors as a third goal in less than 15 second-half minutes condemned the visitors to yet another away defeat.

Pitman was again the man on target as he found the bottom left-hand corner of Federici's tempting target from a pinpoint Ritchie corner.

Disgruntled Reading fans voiced their concerns at the final whistle, but it was all smiles for the hosts as they took a big step forward towards the play-off places.
