Bournemouth 1-2 Tranmere: Match Report

McGurk sinks Cherries A last-minute strike from Adam McGurk earned Tranmere a dramatic 2-1 win at Bournemouth - moments after fellow sub Danny Ings thought he had salvaged a point for the Cherries. Ings cancelled out Ian Goodison's opener with a stunning overhead kick in injury time but McGurk won it for relegation-threatened Tranmere seconds before the final whistle. The Cherries barely mustered a shot on goal in the first half, and were made to pay when veteran defender Goodison, 38, swept in Aaron Cresswell's low 42nd-minute corner. Lucas Atkins should have doubled the lead in the 82nd minute but his header from Adam McGurk's free-kick fizzed over the bar. Bournemouth were getting desperate and shooting from long range, but Ings' stunning effort from a Steve Fletcher knock-down, got them back into it. However, Bournemouth's joy turned to despair in the 93rd minute as the impressive Atkins set up McGurk, who smashed the ball in off the underside of the bar.
