It has been a dream end to an incredible season for Harry Arter and Bournemouth as they prepare for life in the Premier League as Championship title winners.

Arter has been a key figure throughout and, having also earned a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad, he now has three reasons to be cheerful.

To top off the best season of his career, the Cherries favourite has now been named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in the Championship they dominated last season.

The all-action 25-year-old played in 43 Championship games, weighing in with nine valuable goals – and his disciplinary record has also shown signs of improvement.

Once criticised by Eddie Howe for picking up too many ‘needless’ yellow cards the Burnley boss is delighted with the progress Arter has made in all facets of his game.

Howe says: “I think every supporter who has watched the team in recent seasons can see how Harry has improved that aspect of his game.

“I have always said that I will never have a problem with him getting booked for tackles, providing they are genuine attempts to win the ball. The issue I always had with him was the bookings for dissent, kicking away the ball and speaking out of turn to referees.

“That is something we have talked to him about and I think he has improved no end. His aggression is part of his game and part of what makes him the player he is and you can't take that away from him.”

Arter is happy to return the compliment and says of the Championship Manager of the Year: “He has brilliant for since I arrived from Woking. When he see where I've come from, he’s helped me a lot to get to this point and I'm very thankful to him."
