Uncertainty hampering Stanley

Accrington Stanley assistant Jimmy Bell has revealed the club's uncertain financial future is hampering their attempts to sign up out of contract players.

Stanley are confident of staving off a winding-up order issued by HM Revenue and Customs last week over a £300,000 debt, but Bell has admitted the current uncertainty is leading to difficulties.

"I have had various phone calls from players asking what's going on, but we've just had to say to them that the club are confident everything will be okay," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"Nothing's moved on with player negotiations though. A lot of the players don't really want to commit themselves.

"It's all been pretty much put on hold while the club do what they have to do to get things sorted."
