Accrington Stanley have announced the signings of Burton Albion midfielder Paul Carden and Macclesfield Town striker John Miles.

The duo were both out of contract with their respective clubs and join the Reds as free agents.

Carden, 28, had only been with Burton since October last year, having previously enjoyed spells with Peterborough United, Chester City, Doncaster Rovers and Rochdale - having started his career with Blackpool.

One-time Liverpool trainee Miles, 25, netted five goals for Macc this season as they narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League, including a crucial last-day strike in the 1-1 draw with Notts County.

He joined the Silkmen in the summer of 2003 from Crewe Alexandra, after a loan stint at Moss Rose at the end of the 2002-03 campaign.
