Accrington Stanley have lodged an appeal against David Brown's red card in the closing stages of the 2-0 victory against Hereford United.

Brown, who had earlier scored against his former club, was sent off in the 89th minute for a late challenge on the Bulls' Danny Thomas.

"We're confident, when the referee looks at the sending-off, that it will be wiped out," said Stanley boss John Coleman.

"We played some terrific stuff. They were two wonderful goals and it's like buses, you wait ages for one and then two wins come at once."

Accrington have a hearing in Preston on Friday when they face charges of fielding two ineligible players that could result in a points deduction.

However, an upbeat Coleman added: "We've never meant to deceive anybody and we're confident justice will win out."
