Stanley hit back at Martin

Accrington Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell has hit out at goalkeeper Alan Martin after he cut short a loan spell with the League Two club.

The 20-year-old returned to Leeds United late last month, citing a lack of a goalkeeping coach at the Crown Ground as the reason.

However, Bell told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Not having a coach meant that excuse was open to him, but people are quick to make excuses rather than point the finger at themselves.

"I think he probably felt he should be first choice, but he made a couple of mistakes and so did Ian Dunbavin, so that was why they were both in and out of the team.

"Goalkeeping is a specialised position and when one comes in on loan they probably do expect the service of a coach."
