Quartet handed lengthy bans

The Football Association has banned four footballers for up to a year following a betting scam that took place at the end of the 2007-08 season. James Harris, David Mannix, Robert Williams and Andrew Mangan were all found guilty of betting on the outcome of the Accrington Stanley v Bury game on 3 May 2008. Harris, who was also found guilty of placing a stake on a treble bet while he was at Chester City, was fined £5,000 and suspended for a year. Mannix was fined £4,000 and suspended for ten months while Williams has been handed a £3,500 fine and banned for eight months. Mangan, who enjoyed a prolific 2008-09 season with Forest Green Rovers, has been fined £2,000 and suspended for five months.
