Experienced central defender Colin Murdock has agreed a one-year deal with Accrington Stanley following his release by Shrewsbury Town.
The 32-year-old Northern Ireland international made 31 appearances for the Shrews last season, but was allowed to leave the club at the end of the season.
Reds chairman Eric Whalley told the Accrington Observer: "He is over six foot tall and is the type of centre-half we have been looking for.
"He is also a left-sided player, so that should help us out too as we are short on the left.
"We have been lacking someone tall to head and kick the ball a long way and we've got that in him."
