Accrington Stanley have snapped up Shrewsbury Town defender Darran Kempson on a month's loan.

The Reds moved for Kempson after being scuppered in their efforts to sign Charlton Athletic's Paulo Monteiro.

Shrews boss Gary Peters told his club's official website: "Darran feels he needs to be in the first-team playing matches and Accrington were looking for a centre-back.

"I think the loan will be good for him. He comes from that neck of the woods and it gives him the chance to get some games under his belt.

"Darran has shown a little of what he can do, but with a run of games I think it will help his consistency and will bring the best out of him."
