Horror injury sidelines Murphy

Accrington Stanley teenager Peter Murphy has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in a reserve team match.

The 18-year-old will be forced to have an operation after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament against Carlisle United's second string earlier this month.

"Peter Murphy's got to have a full reconstruction of his knee, so he's going to be out for the season and that's a blow for us," confirmed Stanley boss John Coleman.

"He's been in every squad, and it's a blow for him, but it can't be the end. He's got to work hard and get himself back to full fitness."
