Arthur set for swift return

Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Kenny Arthur could be back in action on Saturday despite spending last weekend in hospital.

The Scottish keeper was admitted to hospital after taking a blow to the kidneys during Friday evening's 5-1 defeat at Lincoln City.

Arthur was treated by paramedics at half-time in the League Two game before returning to the pitch in the second half.

"He got hurt before half-time and he was passing blood so he went straight to hospital after the game," said Stanley chief executive Robert Heys.

"There was some concern over the internal bleeding but they stabilised him and he should be okay to play next week.

"Our medical staff will look at him when he gets back and we'll take it from there, but it was shocking to see him at half-time but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

"We had him looked at by the doctor and he thought he was okay to go back out."
