Stevenage 2-2 Accrington Stanley: Report

05 February 2011 17:44
Stanley fight back for draw Accrington hit back to snatch a point with two dramatic late goals in their 2-2 draw with Stevenage. It looked like Stevenage were on their way to victory when Lawrie Wilson made it 2-0 with 12 minutes left. But Stanley hit back with Terry Gornell crashing home in the 87th minute and then Andrew Procter burying a shot from 20 yards two minutes later. The hosts dominated the first half but only had the one goal to show for their efforts. That came in just the seventh minute when Wilson neatly played Byron Harrison in, and he drilled home from just inside the box. After that Stevenage ought to have gone further ahead as John Mousinho saw a well-struck shot saved by Ian Dunbavin. The Stanley keeper again came to the rescue when Ian Brady fired in a low, curling effort. Just before the break, Harrison came close to doubling his and Stevenage's tally when he nodded over the crossbar. In the second half Accrington rallied with Phil Edwards seeing a powerful shot blocked, while at the other end Wilson tried his luck from distance but the shot flew narrowly wide.
