Bradshaw gives Shrews home comfort

Tom Bradshaw's first goal of the season secured a 1-0 win for Shrewsbury over Accrington as they chalked up a seventh straight home victory in all competitions.

Shrewsbury controlled the first half for long stages and their pressure finally paid off in the 27th minute when Wales Under-21 international striker Bradshaw clinically swept home a Lionel Ainsworth cross from 12 yards after a blistering run down the right from the lively winger.

Accrington goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin earlier saved superbly from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff's header before Ainsworth's 20-yard free-kick scraped a post on its way wide.

Marvin Morgan should also have done better than lift his shot over the bar when he only had Dunbavin to beat.

Accrington, still searching for their first away win of the season, made little impression going forward with a Will Hatfield shot which drifted wide from close range as good as it got for John Coleman's men.

Shrewsbury pushed forward in search of a killer second goal after the break but chances were hard to come by as Bradshaw's goal proved to be enough to lift them up to third place in the table.
