The 35-year-old played a part in Stanley's promotion to the Football League, having joined the club in the UniBond League back in August 2000. The striker joined League Two rivals Bradford City on loan towards the end of this season. "Paul has been a tremendous player for Accrington Stanley during his time here," chief executive Rob Heys told the club's official website. "However, at a time when all clubs are reassessing their wage budgets it is difficult to accommodate Paul in our pay structure, and this is the only reason we have put him on the transfer list." "Also, of course, until any offer is received, accepted and Paul is happy with a deal then he is still very much an Accrington Stanley player with a year left on his contract."
