Lazarus handed a Stanley role

It was announced that Lazarus has joined the board on Tuesday evening as the resignations of former chairman Eric Whalley and director Frank Martindale were officially accepted. O'Neill told the club's official website: "Marcelle has a lot of experience in dealing with clubs and footballers at all levels, and will be a valuable addition to our board." Meanwhile, the League Two outfit surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with local rivals Burnley on Tuesday night. John Miles put Stanley in front midway through the first half and the Premier League new-boys were stunned when Sean McConville doubled the home side's lead in the second half. But Owen Coyle's side rallied late on and Robbie Blake pulled a goal back seven minutes from time, then Steven Thompson denied Accrington right at the death.
