Khan eyes leader role for Lloyd

The Sky TV cricket commentator and lifelong Accrington supporter has agreed in principle to head the newly established company, created by supporters to aid the cash-strapped club who were last month issued with a winding-up order. And Khan, who is thought to have put £250,000 of his own money into the fund, is hopeful the company will be ready to make a formal offer to invest capital in the near future. "We are going to put an offer to the club to invest capital. We don't expect them to accept it," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "I spoke to David [Lloyd] on Monday morning and he said we have got his support providing it is professional and above board - all the things you would expect of David and of course he would only be able to do it part time. "If the club accepted the offer it would dilute Eric's [Whalley, chairman] shareholding but we hope to show the value that David Lloyd would add. If the club went into administration they would be worth a big fat zero and I think Eric is beginning to realise that. This is a communication challenge now."
