Heys vows to repay Stanley donors

Stanley need to raise £308,000 to pay a tax bill within the next eight weeks or face closure, prompting the club to arrange a number of fundraising events to help chip away at the debt. The first of those was a friendly with Premier League Burnley on Tuesday and, if the club are successful in reaching their goal, Heys plans on thanking those who have supported them in the future. "We can guarantee that this won't happen again," Heys said. "That's a personal guarantee. We know that once we get this out of the way we've got a very bright future ahead of us. "It is very encouraging the amount of people that have got in touch with us and have been getting behind the club. I think it's a platform to build on, it's very humbling. "Even local nurseries are having fundraising days for us and next year we have spoken about designating a week or even a fortnight for hard-line fundraising for local charities to give something back and say thank you to everybody who has helped us."
