Former Stanley player to appeal ban

The 27-year-old received the ban after being found guilty of betting against his own side when they played Bury in May 2008.[LNB]Cavanagh maintains his innocence and his barrister, Martin Budworth, told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We're hopeful that we can show that the sanction was excessive and disproportionate in front of a fresh panel."[LNB]Former Stanley players Jay Harris, Robbie Williams and David Mannix, along with ex-Bury striker Andy Mangan, were also banned for various lengths of time and will have their appeals heard on Tuesday.[LNB][LNB]
