Donnely at the double for Shots

22 August 2009 18:19
Stanley started brightly and almost took the lead in the opening minute, but John Miles' looping effort from inside the six-yard box dropped agonisingly wide of the far post. And seven minutes later the hosts made them pay thanks to Donnelly. A Louis Soares cross bounced off the bar and fell to Shots skipper Adam Hinshelwood, who laid the ball off for Donnelly to drill home from the edge of the box. Aldershot doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Accrington keeper Alan Martin could only parry Kirk Hudson's shot to the feet of Marvin Morgan who tapped in his third goal of the season. The visitors were back in the game straight after the break when Paul Mullin flicked on a Miles corner to the far post where defender Phil Edwards bundled home. But it was not enough and Aldershot sealed the win in stoppage time when Donnelly curled home from 18 yards.
