Coleman questions card-happy ref

Accrington manager John Coleman was disappointed with the amount of cards produced by the referee against Southend. Stanley received five yellow cards and one red after Peter Murphy was dismissed in the closing stages of the game for a late tackle, but Coleman feels the referee should have used common sense before producing his cards. "He (the referee) sends one of our players off for winning a tackle. If you look at the card count, 6-1, that's ludicrous beyond belief," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "Our player gets booked for not taking a free-kick from the same place and the keeper gets booked because the person behind the goal throws the ball away. "How's that our keeper's fault, because he's got to go and get it? It doesn't make sense and we'll end up with a big fine. A club of our size and our resources can't afford to pay a fine when we shouldn't have to."
