Coleman pleased with Stanley show

Accrington manager John Coleman hailed his players as "magnificent" after a deserved 3-2 FA Cup win over Oldham. Ray Putterill struck twice in each half, either side of James Ryan's effort for Stanley, who outfought their npower League One opponents in a thrilling first-round tie. Coleman said: "It was a fantastic game, but not for the faint-hearted. "They had a 20-minute spell where they put us under immense pressure, but apart from that I thought we were magnificent. "We've been on a sticky patch and conceded 24 goals in eight games, but we defended well - despite conceding two goals - and showed a lot of character and that's what I have asked from the players. "I wanted the players dying on their feet and they gave their all and that's all you can ask win, lose or draw. "Ray Putterill scored two fantastic goals and, when he's in that kind of mood, he's difficult to play against."
