Stanley face being closed down if they do not raise the £308,000 they owe the Tax Office in the next eight weeks, but got their fundraising campaign up and running with a friendly against the Clarets at Turf Moor on Tuesday night. A crowd of 5,301 turned out to see Burnley win 4-0, but the result was immaterial to those present, with Stanley picking up the gate receipts which were in the region of £40,000. "We are thankful to everyone who turned up and we hope to show that their money is going towards a worthy cause," Coleman told the Lancashire Telegraph. "All the money we made from the game is a real bonus. It was a chance to raise money in one big hit. "It was smashing of Owen to organise the match and it just shows the personality and character of the man. We will be eternally grateful to him."
