Coleman berates defence

Accrington manager John Coleman was critical of his team's defensive display in their 4-2 loss to Cheltenham as his side slid down the League Two table. Brian Smikle and Jeff Goulding scored to give Cheltenham a comfortable half-time lead but Terry Gornell pulled one back for Stanley. Goulding grabbed a second and Robin Shroot made the game safe before Phil Edwards grabbed a consolation from the penalty spot. Coleman said: "The best team won. Both sides made chances but they took theirs. We defended as a team abysmally and I feel sorry for the fans as they deserve better. We can serve up better than that. "There was no passion, our defence was all over the place and the goals we conceded were diabolical. We have conceded 11 goals in our last three home games and that's not good enough. "Cheltenham have not seen the real Accrington and that's the disappointing thing and something I will have to address. There will have to be changes as that's not good enough."
