Aldershot 0-0 Accrington Stanley: Report

Shots still misfiring

Aldershot have now gone six games without a goal as poor finishing saw Dean Holdsworth's men have to settle for a 0-0 draw against Accrington despite dominating the match.

The Shots created numerous chances but they were unable to take any and put some much-needed daylight between themselves and the drop-zone.

John Coleman's Stanley side, in their first goalless stalemate in 20 games, lost ground in the race for the play-offs after dropping two points but it could have been so much worse for them.

Peter Vincenti should have put the home team in front just before the half-hour mark but crashed his shot against the crossbar.

The diminutive Charlie Henry forced Ian Dunbavin to claw out a dipping cross from under his bar and also saw a deflected effort roll wide with the keeper beaten.

Aldershot were nearly made to pay as Ross Worner did well to smother Michael Smith's toe poke early in the second-half.

But Guy Madjo missed the chance of the game after 81 minutes as he snatched at a one-on-one shot, hitting the keeper at point-blank range. Charlie Barnett's shot from long distance went close with time running out but the game petered out into a draw.
