Nicky in Hunt for Stanley

Accrington boss James Beattie expects Nicky Hunt to feature against Newport.

The ex-Bolton and Bristol City full-back came off in Stanley's last game against Fleetwood with an ankle injury on New Year's Day but, with their fixture against Portsmouth falling foul of the weather, Hunt has since returned to training and should be available.

Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli is back at the club on loan from Fulham and will be expected to dislodge Andrew Dawber, who has a slight thigh strain anyway, between the sticks.

Defender Rob Atkinson played a behind-closed-doors friendly so is ready to feature following his hamstring problem while Liverpool loanee Craig Roddan could make his debut.

Newport look set to hand new signing Rene Howe a debut.

Howe left Burton on Thursday morning to be reunited with Justin Edinburgh who managed him at Rushden and Diamonds and the former Torquay forward looks certain to be involved at The Crown Ground.

Meanwhile Max Porter is likely to be on the bench having made his long-awaited return to the squad after 14 months on the sidelines with a serious groin injury.

Porter was told by one surgeon in the summer that he may have to retire but the 26-year-old is on the path back to full fitness.
