Phillips in contention for Stanley

Jack Phillips could be in line for his debut when Accrington host Mansfield.

The midfielder, whose new boss John Coleman was his primary school teacher, signed a short-term deal at the club on Friday but was not eligible for Saturday's clash with Morecambe.

Stanley will monitor forward Terry Gornell, who went over on his ankle at the weekend and had to be substituted at half-time. Billy Kee could come in to lead the line alongside Josh Windass in his absence.

Tom Davies and Dean Winnard will also be assessed after taking knocks during Saturday's defeat, while Coleman says forward Shay McCartan (wrist) is making progress but Tuesday's match will come too soon.

Mansfield will check on goalkeeper Scott Shearer, who has a virus that is causing his ankle to swell.

Shearer missed the derby win against Notts County with the problem last Friday, when fellow summer signing Brian Jensen stepped in and impressed in the 2-0 success at Meadow Lane. Jensen will keep his place should Shearer not recover in time.

Stags boss Adam Murray also has stiff competition for places at centre-half with Lee Collins fit again after a foot injury. However, Collins will have to wait for his chance as Krystian Pearce and Ryan Tafazolli are Murray's partnership at the moment.

Matty Blair, who has fully recovered from a long-term knee injury, could be involved if he agrees a new deal with the club in time.
