Burnley set to make changes for cup clash with Accrington

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is contemplating changes for his side's EFL Cup second-round meeting with Accrington.

The Clarets make the short trip to the Wham Stadium on the back of their stunning 2-0 win against Liverpool.

With Ashley Barnes the only absentee, Dyche is looking to give some players their first start of the campaign on Wednesday.

He said: "There's a possibility of changes. We wanted to make sure everyone was fit and well, which they are, but because we have a deeper squad than we've had historically - and there are some really good players in the squad and we're still looking to add to that of course - there's likely to be some changes.

"But we still need to get the changes right in order to win. We're certainly not taking this game lightly. I know (Accrington boss) John Coleman. I think he's done a fantastic job.

"It's a local game, a derby of sorts in the cup albeit. We've got to take all that into consideration and make sure our team are capable of winning."

Andre Gray could feature despite the striker being charged by the Football Association for the homophobic tweets he sent in 2012 which were shared across social media over the weekend after he scored his first Premier League goal.

Accrington remain without striker Terry Gornell and midfielder Scott Brown for the trip.

Gornell is still sidelined with a groin injury while Brown continues to struggle with a calf problem.

Forward Shay McCartan is available after missing the last three games with an unspecified injury.

Former Burnley winger Chris Eagles is an injury doubt while defender Janoi Donacien is expected to continue after signing a new contract on Monday.
