McCartan makes point off bench

Substitute Shay McCartan denied Russell Milton his first win as Cheltenham boss following a 1-1 draw with Accrington.

Milton was in his second game in charge of the relegation-threatened Robins and was celebrating as a Matt Richards cross was headed home by Wes Burns in the 31st minute for his fifth goal of the season.

It was against the run of play with Stanley dominating possession in the first half without creating many clear-cut chances.

Town pressed to extend their lead at the start of the second half with winger Burns causing all kinds of problems, but Stanley were level on 59 minutes.

McCartan had only been on the pitch three minutes when he got on the end of Piero Mingoia's cross 12 yards out and fired home his sixth goal of the season.

Stanley came close to a winner with midfielder Josh Windass, watched by dad and Hull legend Dean, only inches away from scoring his first league goal with a fierce 20-yard strike.
