Honours even as Accrington v Carlisle match finishes 10-a-side

Carlisle held on for a 1-1 draw from their League Two match at Accrington - despite playing 89 minutes with 10 men.

Jabo Ibehre was dismissed for the visitors before Hallam Hope gave them the lead - but Accrington levelled through xxxx - before they too had a man sent off.

There was less than a minute on the clock when striker Ibehre caught Matty Pearson with what was deemed a high challenge and referee Jeremy Simpson showed an early red card to the Carlisle striker.

However the 10 men looked the more threatening side and winger Hope took advantage of some poor defending on 17 minutes to get the ball to the right of the area and slot it into the bottom corner of the net.

Rommy Boco did have the ball in the net for Stanley but it was ruled offside while Andy Procter headed a great chance wide.

After the break, Sean McConville forced a strong save out of Mark Gillespie as Stanley looked to take advantage of their extra man.

But the numbers evened up in the 54th minute when left-back Adam Buxton was shown a second yellow card.

And four minutes later Stanley were level when McConville played a ball in from the left for substitute Terry Gornell to head home.

Stanley came close to a winning goal 10 minutes from time but Gillespie saved brilliantly with his legs to keep out Billy Kee.
