Scott Brown keeps Stanley in play-off picture

Scott Brown's 51st minute goal kept Accrington Stanley in the Sky Bet League Two automatic promotion hunt as they overcame Leyton Orient 1-0.

Midfielder Brown fired the ball home from around 12 yards out after Sean McConville's cross was chested into his path by Shay McCartan.

It keeps up fifth-placed Stanley's record of scoring in every home game this season - the only club in England to do so - while Orient dropped out of the top seven with the loss.

Both teams cancelled each out in the first half with plenty of pressing and probing but not a lot of end product.

Orient keeper Alex Cisak, a former Stanley stopper, was the only one who had a real save to make, diving low to deny winger McConville in the 20th minute.

It livened up after the interval and a great passing move led to Stanley's opener by Brown, his second goal since he signed in January after being released from Grimsby.

McConville could have doubled the score minutes later when he was clean through but Cisak denied him with his legs and Jerome Binnom-Williams' poor headed back pass on 64 minutes let winger McConville in but the Orient keeper did enough to put him off.

Sub Ollie Palmer came close to levelling for Orient in the 75th minute as he got on the end of Sean Clohessy's cross but Ross Etheridge denied him.
