Rossoneri sweating over Pato

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is facing a race against time to be fit for the second leg of their Champions League last 16 encounter with Manchester United after picking up a thigh muscle injury.

The 12-goal Brazil striker limped out of Sunday's 3-1 Serie A success over Atalanta and is a major doubt for the trip to Old Trafford on March 10.

The Rossoneri trail 3-2 following the first leg at the San Siro last week.

"We will have to wait 24 to 48 hours before knowing the extent of the injury," explained Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.

"Not to have Pato would be terrible. We don't have anyone who can replace him. Without him, we would need to change our tactical set-up."
