Ronaldinho's proposed transfer from Barcelona to AC Milan could fall through after the two clubs failed to agree a transfer fee for the Brazil international.
Internazionale are now expected to make a move for the 28-year-old, who has endured a disappointing season at the Camp Nou.
The Rossoneri's chief executive Adriano Galliani admitted: "We had a conference call on Saturday but the figures haven't fallen into place.
"Maybe Ronaldinho won't come and a main striker will arrive.
"Ronaldinho went to Barcelona when they were in the UEFA Cup. It happens to all the great European clubs, I hope it doesn't happen to Milan.
"Anyway, Ronaldinho is a Barcelona player, not a Milan player."
