Petrucci hits back at Capello

Italian Olympic Committee chief Gianni Petrucci has laid into England coach Fabio Capello following his comments about the state of Italian football earlier in the week.

Capello suggested that ultras are spoiling the sport in his home country and that they were allowed to do what they wanted without restraint.

However, Petrucci has suggested that Capello should be looking closer to his adopted home.

Speaking to Italian media, the sporting chief said: "Sporting culture certainly cannot come from the English.

"I don't forget that the English were banned from European competition for five years and this did not happen here."
