Milan cool Kaka's Real link

AC Milan have cooled reports suggesting Brazil international Kaka is close to sealing a switch to Real Madrid.

It had been reported by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser that the two clubs had agreed a £56million transfer fee for the 27-year-old midfielder and that personal terms were being discussed.

However, the Rossoneri have distanced themselves from the story that gathered pace when general manager Adriano Gailliani travelled to Madrid earlier this week.

A statement released by the club read: "The general manager of the Rossoneri, Adriano Galliani, is in the city of Madrid exclusively for the investiture dinner of Florentino Perez, the new president of Real Madrid."

Kaka, who was involved in a similar transfer saga with Manchester City in January and has also been linked with a summer switch to Chelsea, spoke on Tuesday of his desire to remain with Milan.

He said: "I will say it for one last time: I do not want to leave Milan. I prefer to keep quiet for the time being because I don't want to be misinterpreted or, even worse, manipulated.

"I just want to say to the millions of Rossoneri fans that I have made my choice. I want to stay. Just leave me alone, please."
