Juves Matri set for official Milan signing
Juventus striker Alessandro Matri is set to officially sign for AC Milan on Friday after a successful meeting with club officials.
Matri, who failed to cement a regular starting place in Antonio Conte's side, is now deemed surplus to Juve's requirements following the signing of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.
However with Milan striker Giampaolo Pazzini still recovering from knee surgery and the Rossoneri now qualified for the group stages of the Champions League, coach Massimiliano Allegri stepped up his bid to bring an extra striker on board.
For Matri, it is something of a homecoming.
He came through Milan's youth academy but was loaned out to several sides early in his career before being sold to Cagliari in 2007 for 2.3m euros.
A statement on Milan's website, www.acmilan.com, on Friday said Matri had met with Allegri, club CEO Adriano Galliani and president Silvio Berlusconi on Thursday evening and was expected at the club's Via Turati headquarters later in the day.
"After leaving Turin yesterday evening and spending the night in Milan, Alessandro Matri is expected in Via Turati this morning following a meeting between Massimiliano Allegri, Adriano Galliani and club President Silvio Berlusconi last night," said the statement.
Neither club has put a price on the transfer although reports suggest Milan will pay 11m euros for the striker.
