AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has stepped down with immediate effect ahead of his appointment for the third time as Italian prime minister.
Berlusconi will retain ownership of the Rossoneri, but under Italian law is not permitted to run a football club while in possession of the premiership.
The 71-year-old will hand over control to current vice-president Adriano Galliani.
Meanwhile, Galliani has denied claims that Milan have approached AS Roma defender Philippe Mexes over a potential summer switch to the San Siro.
"We have a good relationship with the Sensi family and thus Milan would never break that by approaching one of their players whilst he is still under contract," he said.
"We have never contacted Mexes and we will only make an approach once Roma has put a player on the market."
