Ancelotti fires Milan warning

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has warned his AC Milan players not to be carried away despite securing a morale-boosting 3-1 UEFA Cup first round first leg victory over FC Zurich on Thursday.

The Rossoneri had come in for severe criticism after opening the new Serie A season with successive defeats to Bologna and Genoa.

Marek Jankulovski, Alexandre Pato and Marco Borriello were on the mark for a previously out-of-sorts Milan, but afterwards Ancelotti fired a stark warning.

"We were better than we have been, but we need to make lots more steps forward," he claimed.

"It's important that we maintain this attitude and spirit that allowed us to beat Zurich.

"We managed to create more chances because we recovered the ball and moved better from the back.

"One of the positive aspects of the game was that we managed to get the strikers going in on goal."
