Warm welcome delights Aluko

Sone Aluko cannot believe the warmth of the welcome he has received since returning to Aberdeen.

The teenage striker completed his switch to Pittodrie from Birmingham City on transfer deadline day after impressing the Dons faithful during a loan spell with the club last term.

Aluko told the Press & Journal: "I didn't realise what the supporters' reaction was to me coming back until Wednesday.

"I wasn't even in Aberdeen when it hit me. I was driving up and stopped at a petrol station in Perth where someone came up to me, saying they were delighted I was back and wishing me all the best.

"I saw some of the newspapers in the city and it was an amazing feeling. It means a great deal to me. It's nice to feel wanted and, although it means there's added pressure on me, I'm sure I can handle the responsibility.

"Expectations are part of the game and, hopefully, I can thrive. I think I can surpass those expectations because I can improve on last year."
