Velicka In During Deadline Day Transfer Maelstrom

Foster heads to Ibrox as Dons boss Mark McGhee gets close to completing the summer shake-up. ABERDEEN have signed Andreas Velicka from Rangers, with utility man Richard Foster heading to Glasgow in a swap loan deal, according to reports. Lithuania international striker Velicka signed for Rangers in 2008 but has played only eight matches for the club. Foster has been a regular feature for the Dons in recent years without managing to call a position on the pitch his own, and did not start a game for the Dons during their excellent start to this season. Both players arrive at their new clubs on a season-long loan. Rumours had been rampant over the last week that Foster would be on his way to Ipox, but the Velicka return move has come out of the blue (so to speak). It is thought that Aberdeen will finally seal the move for Grant Basey before the transfer window slides gently closed. And with eight strikers now on the books, surely at least one will be heading off before midnight. Aberdeen's Stirling Smith has also moved to Dumbarton on loan today, but the 19-year-old left-back's family and friends will hope and pray that he can commute rather than have to live there. With the dust yet to settle on a hectic day of last-ditch transfer wheeling and dealing, there may yet be some surprise moves as Mark McGhee's slots together the final pieces of his summer revolution.
